FOCUS column
CommitmentDiscountCategory
The FOCUS-normalized category of the commitment: Spend for commitments to a spend amount per hour or month, such as savings plans, and Usage for commitments to a quantity of a resource, such as reservations. The two behave differently in utilization and in how their benefit is allocated.
Example
A compute savings plan is a Spend commitment; a three-year reservation for a database instance is a Usage commitment.
Where it comes from, per export
The export column that feeds CommitmentDiscountCategory in each format the platform ingests, and the transform applied. A format with no row does not carry the column; the value is then absent rather than guessed.
| Export | Source column | Transform |

How Runcost uses it
Runcost reports utilization and coverage separately for spend and usage commitments, because the arithmetic differs.
