FOCUS column
ResourceType
The provider’s classification of the resource, such as a virtual machine, a disk, a bucket or a database instance. It allows a service’s charges to be split by the kind of resource and lets tagging and allocation rules apply to a type rather than to individual resources.
Example
Within a compute service, rows split into “Virtual Machine”, “Disk” and “Public IP” resource types with very different cost profiles.
Where it comes from, per export
The export column that feeds ResourceType in each format the platform ingests, and the transform applied. A format with no row does not carry the column; the value is then absent rather than guessed.

How Runcost uses it
Runcost applies allocation rules and anomaly baselines per resource type, so a spike in disks is not hidden by steady virtual machine spend.
