FOCUS column
RegionId
The provider’s identifier for the region the resource ran in, in the provider’s own code form. Regions carry different prices, data-residency rules and carbon profiles, so the region is a first-class dimension of both cost and compliance reporting.
Example
Rows carry “eu-west-2”, “uksouth” or “europe-west2” depending on the provider, all London regions under different codes.
Where it comes from, per export
The export column that feeds RegionId in each format the platform ingests, and the transform applied. A format with no row does not carry the column; the value is then absent rather than guessed.
| Export | Source column | Transform |
|---|---|---|
| AWS Data Exports, FOCUS | RegionId | as is |
| Azure Cost Management, FOCUS export | RegionId | as is |
| Azure Cost Details (actual cost) | ResourceLocation | as is |
| Azure Cost Details (amortized cost) | ResourceLocation | as is |
| Google Cloud detailed billing export | location.region | as is |
How Runcost uses it
Runcost reports cost by region within and across providers, and uses the region to explain price differences for the same resource type.
